Frames from
Zandvort
In 2025 me and my Partner travelled to the Netherlands for our second F1 Race, The Dutch GP in Zandvoort. Was stoked to get immersed in one of our favoruite sports as a couple while capturing the energy and atmoshere Zandvort brings to the table. The extra challenge was more strict security limiting gear to just a point and shoot and a fixed 35mm film. Created a challenge in itself on a sport that relies on longer focual lengths.
Route to Zandvort
Getting to Zandvoort from Amsterdam was quite straight forward. Once in the Village you can see how the town itself gets ready to greet and host fans from all over the world.
Atmosphere of Zandvort
At the Track The Fan Zone is packed all weekend with fans of all ages showing their fandom wanting to experience the different activations to celebrate Formula 1.
Practice
The Free Practice's were our first glimse at on track action from our seats in the Arena. Getting to see the drivers coming off the Summer Break, a 2 week window where no work on the car or simular is done getting back into the groove of driving. Especially important as with modern F1 cars, they can be difficult to over-take esecially on older track designs like Zandvoort.
Fan Passion
The highlight of the Fan Area is the Q&A for the Drivers. Fans wake up early in the morning to be the first one thorugh the gates to get infront of the stage to get a closer glimpse of their idols and heroes. Carrying Signs and Dressed up in the team colors, some wearing multiple team colors as they follow drivers and their personalities more than teams.
F1 Academy
There are the usual support series throughout the weekend to provide constant on track action. Something new for us to see in person is the F1 Academy series for upcomming women drivers to get into single seaters and a pathway up the seeder series to F1.
Quali / Race
The Race itself was suprisingly entertaining due to (sadly) retirements and saftey cars causing gaps to close and make the racing closer. We got to see them navigate the Arena section which is a slow turn followed by a fast harpin a great opportunity for overtaking. The section did not dissapoint with fans keeping the vibes high and the DJ helping keep everyone constantly entertained. The Max Fans were out in force each time their driver flew by and esepcially when Norris DNF(ed) due to engine issues.
Post-Race
After the race as everyone is heading home the street back to the station continues to party to keep everyone entertained during the long lines back.
